Freshmen varsity players make an impact

Even though she may be new to the high school scene, freshman Katie Wood is ready to handle the pressure of Grady’s athletic world. Wood is one of only two freshmen playing for the varsity volleyball team. She along with Renee King act as freshmen representatives and the future of the team.

“It’s a lot more of a challenge and commitment,” Wood said. Wood has been playing since the third grade and explains that high school volleyball is much better than middle school volleyball.

“My favorite part is playing a really good team but [also] playing well against them and getting really good rallies going,” Wood, whose favorite position is outside hitter said.

Wood, along with the rest of the volleyball team are prepared for another exciting season. With a neutral record of 4-4, the team looks to grow throughout the season.
