There is a warm and welcoming feeling when you walk into Amore e Amore in Inman Park. The bright lights, whimsical decorations and immersive themes grab your attention right away, making the restaurant hard to miss. The windows are filled with colorful displays that invite people in.
The little corner restaurant isn’t just about serving food, it’s about building a community. From themed pop-ups to holiday celebrations, Amore e Amore has become a place for anniversaries, birthdays and neighborhood traditions. Amore e Amore is a special part of Inman Park’s culture.
“The stranger we got, the more people loved us,” owner Gale Parker said. “And the more they loved us, the stranger we got. It was every day adding bit by bit to the restaurant.”
From the very beginning, Amore e Amore’s decoration became its signature. What started as a way to disguise imperfections in the building grew quickly into a tradition of immersive themes. Glowing decorations and seasonal pop-ups transformed the restaurant into something magical.
“It started from the very beginning, but not to the degree of intention as now,” Parker said. “My husband started hanging chairs from the ceilings and wrapping them with lights.”
Over time, the decorations became more elaborate. Adding oversized ornaments and themed lights for every holiday. What began as necessity evolved into artistry, and guests came to expect the unexpected.
“We just continue to listen to guests and what they like and dislike,” Parker said. “If you want loyal customers, you need to be loyal to them.”
Listening to customers has been crucial to Amore e Amore’s success. Parker said the restaurant has always adapted to the needs of its guests, whether young professionals starting their lives, or families celebrating milestone anniversaries. The responsiveness has kept the restaurant alive while staying true to its roots.
“I remember an unbelievable Valentine’s day when we had people out the door trying to get in,” Parker said. “After that year, we made Valentine’s Day all month long.”
Valentines Day became one of the most significant events at Amore e Amore, alongside Christmas in July and New Year’s celebrations that stretch through January. These traditions highlight the restaurant’s playful spirit and commitment to joy.
“We feel responsible for many things,” Parker said. “We are a welcoming home to everyone, and we throw our arms around everyone. We want everyone to feel not only equal, but loved in our space.”
The philosophy has made Amore e Amore more than a restaurant. Parker said kindness is at the heart of their mission, whether speaking to guests, protecting staff, or owning mistakes. For her, authenticity and compassion are as important as the food.
“I can’t even count the number of engagements we’ve had,” Parker said. “The next thing you know they’re getting married and raising children.”
Stories of engagements, anniversaries and family traditions fill the restaurant’s history. Parker remembers Dr. John and his wife planned their engagement at Amore e Amore for their daughter. Her mother even knitted a baby blanket for their first child Alex.
“We’re so stubborn,” Parker said. “We will not go down, we just won’t.”
The determination carried the restaurant through challenges, including COVID and ownership struggles. Parker credits community support and longtime employees for helping them endure. Thousands of people reached out to offer help, reinforcing the restaurant’s place in Atlanta’s culture.
“We put love in everything we do,” Parker’s daughter and worker Marnin Schnapper said. “Every single day. Every single table.”
Schnapper remembers preparing balloons for New Year’s Eve, glowing decorations for holidays, and tasting menus before her first shift. For her, the restaurant is a living memory, evolving bigger every year.
“When I first went to Amore e Amore, it was when their Halloween decorations were up,” guest Emma Sullivan said. “It was honestly so magical and fun from the beginning.”
The immersive experience set Amore e Amore apart from any other restaurant in Atlanta. Sullivan remembers witch hats and orange lights strung from the ceilings, themed menus and even a magician who interacted with the guests.
“They had entertainment that visited each table,” Sullivan said. “It felt way more special than any other random night out.”
Guests like Sullivan highlight the restaurant’s ability to create long lasting impressions. The combination of decoration, food and entertainment makes each visit memorable, turning ordinary nights into extraordinary experiences.
“The original restaurant started pretty basic and overnight turned into a large collection of memories plastered over the walls,” Schnapper said. “These were brought over from the previous restaurants over the years. It was October and I remember by NYE we had the ceilings covered in hundreds of balloons we spent hours preparing. It evolved like a snowball or an avalanche.”
Her memories highlight how the restaurant grew organically, shaped by both family and community. Schnapper recalls the early days when staff gathered to taste the menu before the first shift.
“I remember before the first shift we prepared a table for all the staff to try the menu of the restaurant before us,” Schnapper said.
That early memory captures the spirit of Amore e Amore from the beginning. It wasn’t just about preparing dishes, it was about creating a sense of family among the staff, a tradition that would carry forward for decades. Those first tastes set the tone for what the restaurant would become. A place where food and community were inseparable.
“I remember it being a thing for Halloween, Christmas, NYE and Valentines,” Schnapper said. “Then my mom started getting these random glowing things. Ice buckets. Large glowing balls. Glow sticks. It got out of hand quickly.”
As the restaurant grew, so did its decorations. What began as small touches for holidays transformed into full scale immersive experiences. Guests came for different holiday fun depending on the season. Whether it was for the decorations, immersive experiences, or the food the environment never changed.
“With some of the original menu items still being the top sellers. Our food is insanely delicious and something you’ll yearn for. While the experience makes you feel like you’ve had the hug you’ve been missing and the fun your heart needed.”
