Bria Brown is a second year staff member on the Southerner as well as a senior in the Class of 2020. She is currently Photography/Multimedia Editor and looks forward to expanding the Southerner photography section. Outside of school, she plays soccer, ultimate frisbee, exercise, and trades stocks. She looks forward to becoming a hedge fund manager for a professional investment management firm overseeing high risk, high yield stocks.

Students file out of Grady as the dismissal bell rings at 3:30. However, many students in special needs classes dismiss earlier than the general population. Nationally, there is a push to be more inclusive of those students in both general classes and daily activities like transitions.

On Sept. 27, 2019, about 200 students walked out to Piedmont Park to protest climate change.  Rainforests burning. Glaciers melting. Sea levels rising. This is only the beginning. Spoken plainly, human actions have begun to damage our earth exponentially, North Atlanta High School senior Danielle Millburn said. This speech is one of many that have been given to protestors around the world in an attempt to urge communities to act in ways that are beneficial to the environment.
