Ameah Richardson, senior

Ameah Richardson is a senior on Grady’s track and field team. Inspired by her sister’s involvement in track, Richardson began running when she was just three years old for the Ben Hill track club. She has fallen in love with the sport ever since.

“I really just like being a part of the team because it’s like a second family,” Richardson said. “It’s all I’ve ever known really so it brings me a lot of comfort.”

Richardson competes in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and triple jump, along with the 4 x 100-meter relay and the 4 x 400-meter relay. The 100-meter hurdle event is her favorite.

“It’s more of a mental sport than it is physical,” Richardson said. “It’s one of those sports where hard work and dedication will usually overcome [natural] talent. That’s something I really like because I think I work hard and I think my team works hard, so it’s nice to see it pay off.”
