Girls JV & varsity cross country finish second, boys varsity finishes fourth at invitational

With six runners finishing in the top ten of their respective races, the Knights cross country team excelled at the Sept. 12 Lions Invitational in Douglas County, their second meet of the season. Sophomore Jamie Marlowe and junior Ellie Spears placed fifth and seventh, respectively, in the girls varsity race. The other five Knights in the girls varsity race finished in the top 25, for a second-place win and a total team score of 49, just six points more than winner South Forsyth. Junior Everett Schroeder finished fifth in the boys varsity race, leading them to a fourth-place finish. Grady JV girls finished second with three girls in the top five: sophomore Sarah Prevost placed first, junior Maggie Opsahl placed third and sophomore Sally Thompson placed fifth. The Knights’ placement at the Lions Invitational and the prior meet bode well for the rest of the season.

The team’s next meet is the Wire2Wire Invitational in Cartersville on Sept. 26.
