Southerner, Nexus win Columbia Scholastic Press Association Silver Crown Awards, students win 5 individual awards

News Brief

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association named the Southerner and Nexus Crown award winners. The Crown Award is CSPA’s highest honor and publications are named Gold or Silver crowns at CSPA’s annual convention at Columbia University in New York City in March.

CSPA also awarded Gold Circle Awards to Southerner and Nexus staffers. For Southerner, Jack Rafferty won third place for sports commentary, Orly Mansbach (Class of 2017) and Annie Zintak won second place for photo story, 2017 graduates Mei Nathan and Allie Schneider won second place for page one design. For Nexus, Lucy Rice won second place magazine cover design and Blake Fowler won third place for photo illustration, portfolio of work.
