Grady Gauntlet shivers through Deep Freeze Tournament

The Grady Gauntlet ultimate Frisbee team had a chilly weekend at the Deep Freeze Tournament in Chattanooga, TN. The temperatures were cold as ice, and the boys had a rough time trudging through the mud puddles during their games, winning only one out of six games.
“The record definitely does not reflect the gains that were made,” said Literature teacher and coach, Susie Mercer. “Having only had two practices to prepare this tournament, we did really well.” Mercer said the team really started to get the hang of their plays during the second day of the tournament, and that they will definitely be ready to succeed during their next competition. Mercer accredited much of the boy’s success to handling from juniors Sebbi Difrancesco and Michael Dillard, the calm hands of freshman Noah Li and to the great defense from Senior Joe Lavine.
The Lady Gauntlet also had a chance to shine this weekend while playing with another girls team from Blackman High School. The girls’ team won three games and lost three games, placing them third out of five teams.
