Knights cross country boys team finished 13th at Atlanta Classic

The boys cross country team competed Saturday morning at Clinton Nature Preserve at the competitive Atlanta Classic Invitational Meet hosted by Chapel Hill High School. The team competed in the Championship 5k race, the most competitive of the meet’s races, and scored a total of 288 points with a 18:43 average finish time, all without usual varsity runners Zach Spangler, Everett Schroeder, and Devin Tabourn competing. This performance was good for a 13th place finish out of 15 schools.

The boys were led by seniors William Palmer and Marcus Johnson. Palmer finished 74 spots ahead of his initial seed before the race in 26th place in a season-best time of 17:22, while Johnson finished shortly after in 37th in a personal-best time of 17:43.

The boys will return to this course again for the region championships in two weeks on Saturday, October 23rd. Before then, the team will take on the competitive Coach Wood Invitational Meet next Saturday, October 16th.
