Virtual lobbying for hate crime legislation taking place from June 1-6

Grady students have the opportunity to participate in phone banking sessions to lobby for the passage of House Bill 426 by the Georgia Senate Judiciary Committee. Organized by junior Francesca Ruhe, the sessions will occur daily from 1 PM to 3:30 PM on June 1-6 and will take place using Google Meet.  House Bill 426 will impose penalties for crimes, felonies or misdeameanors, involving bias or prejudice. With support for the bill arising from the murder of Ahmaud Arbrey, an unarmed African American male running through a Brunswick, GA neighborhood, participants will vouch for the bill in order to remove Georgia from the list of four states without hate crime legislations.
