University System budget cut by 4 percent

The Georgia Board of Regents approved a 4 percent cut- about $10.4 million- to the fiscal budget for the University System of Georgia on Tuesday. The board was responding to calls by Gov. Brian Kemp for a decrease in state spending. Spending for farm and marine research, libraries, and the state’s new Cyber Innovation and Training Center will also be cut by 6 percent starting July 1, 2020.
