The Grady cross-country girls and boys teams both put up strong performances yesterday in the APS championship meet at Grant Park to advance to the region 6AAAA championships. All seven boys ran well and finished first in the meet. The girls finished second thanks to Isabelle Taft’s first place finish and Grace Powers’ second place finish. The girls lost by a slim three points to the North Atlanta Warriors, who won despite one runner’s unsportsmanlike behavior.

“We were going into the last lap, and we were in a pack together,” Taft said. “[A North Atlanta runner] decided she wanted to have clear and easy access, and she said, ‘Get the [expletive] out of my way,’ in a whiny and entitled voice.”

“I passed her shortly after she said that,” Taft added.

The boys and girls will both compete in the region 6AAAA championships at Marist School on Oct. 27 at 9 a.m. with hopes to be one of the top four teams to qualify for the state meet.
