Daniel Caesar was featured in Apple Music’s Up Next series and named Apple Music Artist of the Week on multiple occasions. He was also featured pm GENIUS and more music companies.

When Daniel Caesar released his 2nd album, “Freudian”, August 26, 2017, there was no doubt in my mind that it would be good. All his songs that I had previously listened to, I had really enjoyed. I discovered him through one of my many favorite shows, Grey’s Anatomy. A song was playing in the back of an emotional scene and it was all that stuck out to me. I googled the song and started to listen to his first album “Pilgrim’s Paradise” which was released in 2015. The thought of Caesar’s music slowly left my mind as the weeks passed by. I didn’t think of him again until he was Apple Music’s artist of the week. Apple Music showcased his upcoming album on beats radio and dropped a series of live studio sessions for his pre-released music.
I was so excited for his new album to come out. I had listened to all his songs that had been released and listened to all of his apple music live sessions. I told my friends and family members about him waiting for the new songs. When the album dropped I listened to it as soon as possible. It certainly met my expectations.
His music reminds me of the music you hear while sipping hot coffee in a little corner coffee shop downtown in a big city. The type of music playing through your head while strolling through New York City street lights. The kind of music that helps you concentrate or focus on something important. The kind of music that makes you smile even if the words make you feel sad.
Some songs such as “Get You (feat.Kali Uchis)” and “Best Part (feat. H.E.R.)” remind me of the artist Khalid. They both have a similar vibe that a lot of people are starting to listen to.
One thing about the album that could get tiring is that a lot, if not all of the songs, sound very similar. This could be a good thing if you aren’t focusing on the music, maybe studying or reading a book. This good also become a bad thing because you get tired of his music easily. If it all sounds the same, listening to it once may be the most times you listen to it.
