An inside look at Super Bowl LIII

More goes into preparing for and executing the Super Bowl than the public thinks. The Southerner goes behind the scenes to look at the big game, speaking with fan Catelina Arrascue, a fan who was attending the game from South Carolina and Dr. Eric Ossman, the event’s physician at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

“It’s awesome, the decorations are amazing and huge,” Arrascue said. “It was a very excited, different atmosphere, very positive, very fun.”

Ossman spoke about the coordination of all of the medical facilities in the Atlanta area.

“We do all the medical planning here and take care of everybody here at the Super Bowl if they get sick or injured,” Ossman said. “So, we’ve been working here in Atlanta for almost the last year, to make sure all the hospitals are ready and all of the ambulances are ready, and that we have all sorts of teams in the stadium that are ready.”

The stadium’s retractable roof was open before the start of the game. The halftime show featured Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Atlanta’s own Big Boi. The New England Patriots won the game 13-3 to win their sixth Super Bowl.
