The Grady volleyball team lost its first game of the season today in three sets to North Atlanta 25-19, 25-17, 25-16. After the game, Knights coach Ardelia Austin commented on how the experience of North Atlanta was something her team had not yet seen.

“They have a strong core,” Austin said. “They’ve been playing with each other for the last two or three years so they’ve gelled. We have a huge influx of freshmen on our team, so it’s about us getting the chemistry together.”

The loss moves the Lady Knights to 4-1 on the season, and they will face Mays and Therrell on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Mays High School. Coach Austin is optimistic of the team’s chances on Thursday.

“If our team continues to play with the defense and the vigor that they play, we should be fine against any team in the APS,” she said.
