Atlanta City Council temporarily removes tree ordinance requirements from public works

On Monday, Mar. 17, the Atlanta City Council approved a measure to temporarily exempt the Beltline and other public works from the city’s 2001 tree ordinance that includes rules on the removal and replanting of trees. While it will allow easier construction of infrastructure projects, it will also accelerate Atlanta’s ongoing deforestation.
