Georgia Senate passes parents’ rights bill
February 23, 2022
Congresspeople in the Georgia Senate passed Senate Bill 449. The vote was split 33-21 along party lines. The bill aims to allow parents to review classroom materials, access all records, and opt-out of sexual education among other provisions. Although some of the restrictions are new, many of these rights are already protected. The bill will now move to the Georgia House of Representatives for debate and voting.
