Dickens currently holds At-Large post 3 on the Atlanta City Council and serves as the chair of the Transportation Committee. After attending Atlanta Public Schools and graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Dickens served as the Assistant Director of Outreach Initiatives for Georgia Tech’s Office of Institute Diversity and created a nonprofit aiming to bring affordable technology and business expertise to other nonprofit organizations.

Economy

  • Promotes skill building to to advance economic mobility 
  • Supports a clean energy economy 
  • Co-sponsored legislation requiring city government to pay a $15 minimum wage 

Crime

  • Add 250 officers while training every APD employees in racial sensitivity
  • Address gun trafficking and deploy specialists to deal with non-violent issues, like mental health and homelessness
  • Engage in community policing inorder to reduce response times

Social Equity

  • Revitalize the City’s Human Relations Commissions by funding the Commission
  • Elevate workforce development for LGBTQ youth 
  • Expand Atlanta’s LGBTQ and Black LGBTQ Advisory Board to prioritize the community

Housing

  • Build 20,000 units of affordable housing in 8 years
  • Stop property taxes for seniors
  • Allocate increased funding for affordable housing

Infrastructure

  • Created the Department of Transportation 
  • Supports the BeltLine upkeep and infrastructure completion
