Gilmore Girls Returns to Stars Hallow
More stories from Molly Haynes
When it first aired in 2000, the TV show “Gilmore Girls” introduced us to the quirky lifestyle of a young mother-daughter duo, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore. The beloved American comedy has not aired an episode since 2007—until now. The “Gilmore Girls” revival is scheduled to air this November to answer all our questions.
The eighth and final season of Gilmore Girls, will be released as a Netflix original. It will consist of four episodes, each an hour and a half long. The four episodes will be set over the course of four seasons, starting with winter and ending with fall, completing a full year with our favorite family.
The returning cast includes Lorelai and Rory Gilmore (Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel), Luke Danes (Scott Patterson), Sookie St. James (Melissa McCarthy), Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop), Lane Kim (Keiko Agena), Paris Geller (Liza Weil), Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki), Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia), and Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry). We will also see several of the charming people of Stars Hollow, including Kirk Gleason (Sean Gunn), Taylor Doose (Michael Winters), Miss Patty (Liz Torres), Babette Dell and her husband Morey (Sally Struthers and Ted Rooney).
To celebrate the returning hit show, many pop-up restaurants across America have re-created Luke’s famous diner. Two hundred diners have opened since the release of the new season, several of those in Atlanta. Locations such as JavaVino, Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee Co., and Corso Coffee have been bit by the Gilmore bug, giving free cups of coffee to the fans.
The writers of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” have revealed details of the revival to intrigue fans. First of all, Lorelai and Luke will finally be back together! There will be many new characters, along with many of the old. The original director, Amy Sherman-Palladino, is directing the final season. She was replaced by Lee Shallat-Chemel for the seventh season. Finally, there is a wedding, but the lucky couple is still unknown. Maybe a Gilmore?
“Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” will air on Netflix at 3:01 a.m. ET/ 12:01 a.m. on November 25.
