Student arrested after bringing weapon to school

A student was arrested at approximately 2:00 p.m. after bringing a weapon inside of the school today. Administrators responded after receiving a tip from another student.
An Atlanta Public Schools police officer and a staff administrator found and searched the student and discovered the weapon. Parents, students and school staff were informed between 4 and 5 p.m..
This is the second time in the past three months that a student has brought a weapon to school. On Sept. 5, another student was arrested after bringing a handgun and marijuana to school.
In a letter to school staff, Principal Dr. Betsy Bockman explained that no student or staff member”was injured or in danger.” No administrators have offered any further comment.
