Grady alumnus and former Atlanta Board of Education member Matt Westmoreland had a strong win on Tuesday for an at-large post for the Atlanta City Council. He ended with 63 percent of the vote with approximately 48,000 votes which was more votes than any other candidate in the Atlanta elections.

Westmoreland’s political career had a early beginning with a start at Inman and Grady as the Student Government Association president at both, but he now looks to build a brighter future for the city of Atlanta. Westmoreland is a 2006 graduate.
