“I just won the Atlanta Celebrates Photography in second place, got a little chip on my shoulder. It’s really like a full circle moment because I feel like I’ve entered every single contest that I’ve found but nothing really happened, so it’s rewarding to have something to show that’s not ‘entered’, I can say I won something. I always liked photography, I remember doing it in middle school, not successfully but doing it. So it’s one of those moments that I’m like ‘my past self would be really proud of me’. I like photography because there’s so many possibilities, if that makes sense, it gives you a box and a camera, but what you do with that. You have a limitation but you also have to do something new with it, it’s really challenging which is fun. I’m learning through experiencing, the more I shoot or participate in anything the more I’m like ‘ok I could do that’ and, you know, asking more what if questions and doing something uncharted.” – Jackson Markovic, Senior
