The Grady Knights basketball team clipped the wings of the Woodward War Eagles on Tuesday and won its first game of the season 52-38. It was the first loss for the War Eagles, who beat North Atlanta by five on Nov. 17 and East Coweta by 36 on Nov. 19. Senior center Brandon Watkins had a game high 16 points, including five thunderous dunks.
The Knights understandably started off with some first-game jitters. Woodward’s full court pressure led to some turnovers and transition points early on, and the Knights had some trouble running their flex offense effectively. Despite this, Grady still went into halftime with a 25-21 lead.
In the second half, Grady brought some of its own full court pressure, creating easy layups and dunks. The pressure also held Woodward to just six points in the third quarter, and the Knights took a 15 point lead into the fourth quarter. Grady’s motion offense improved as the game went on, and they controlled the pace of the game in the fourth quarter with quality guard play. The final score was 52-38.

i just want to say that Joe couldn’t have said it any better. The game started out pretty slow because it was the game and the knights was running there new offense for the first time. after half time the team git it together as they conquered the war eagles by 14 points.

I agree with what Joe said Grady had a well fought game. Even though every thing wasn’t working at first they keep trying and everything started to clicking together.
