Gap year fair scheduled for Feb. 11 at Druid Hills

Students interested in taking a gap year between high school and college can attend a free fair to learn about the many programs that are available. The program will take place at Druid Hills High School on Feb. 11 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

New mechanics club started

Students can now join a new Mechanics Club and learn about car engines, including how to change oil and spark plugs, and how to rebuild pistons.  Anyone interested in the club should inquire with Ms. Breen in room C311.

Drama department presents Little Mermaid this week

The drama department is presenting the Advanced Musical Theater class' winter production of the Little Mermaid this week.  The shows are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17-19 at 7 p.m., and an additional show Saturday at 2 p.m. The performance takes place in the Murray Theater and tickets can be purchased at this link.

15 science and social studies projects advance to regional and city-wide fairs

15 academic fair projects along with 36 students will advance to the next level of competition. 10 science fair projects will advance to the Regional Science Fair, which will take place on Jan. 24 at the Coan Building, and 5 social studies projects will advance to the City Social Studies Fair, which will take place Jan. 15.

Sophomore Winer makes GMEA All-state Concert Band

Sophomore Ellie Winer made GMEA All-State Concert Band for 9th and 10th graders. She is the fourth chair for bass clarinet and will be performing alongside excelling students from all across the state of Georgia at the University of Georgia from Feb. 28 to Mar. 2.

Grady Quiz Bowl's A team qualified for nationals at the GATA Winter tournament on December 1. The team, which finished tied for 5th, was captained by Joe Earles.

Upcoming Orchestra Winter Concert scheduled for Dec. 12

The annual Grady/Inman Orchestra Winter Concert will take place December 12, 2018 at 6:30. Special guest, Malek Jandali, the founder of Pianos for Peace, will be joining the Grady Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert is free for all.

Grady Quiz Bowl makes playoffs at GATA Winter

Grady quiz bowl's A team made the playoffs at the Georgia North regional tournament on Dec. 1. The team, captained by Joe Earles, was knocked out in the second round by Chattahoochee A, a nationally-ranked team. The B team, captained by Safia Read, missed the playoffs by one game.

Grady Drama has been rehearsing and will present "Waffle Palace," a spin off of Waffle House, on Nov. 29 in the Black Box theatre. This play is a hilarious yet realistic depiction of what goes on at a Waffle House at 3 am.
