Cross Country teams competes at region

The girls and boys cross country teams compete today at the Region 6AAAAA Cross Country Championship meet today at Boundary Waters Park in Douglas County. Both teams are defending region champions and are expected to face still competition from Decatur and Riverwood.

JV football finishes season with first win

The Knights JV football team finished the season with its first victory, a 17-7 defeat of city and region rival Maynard Jackson on Oct. 24 at Grady Stadium. The team completes the season with a 1-6 record. With a young varsity team this year, many JV players have also seen varsity playing time this season.

Vollyball team eliminated in second round of state playoffs

The volleyball team saw its most successful season come to an end in the second round of the Class 5A state playoffs with a 3-0 loss to Buford. After finishing as the third seed from Region 6AAAAA, the Knights upset Rome to advance to Tuesday's season-ending contest against the Wolves. Grady's Katie Wood, a senior, was named to the All-Region First Team.

Volleyball downs Rome in first round of playoffs

The Knights volleyball team, despite more losses than wins during the regular season and a third-place seed from Region 6AAAAA, pulled off a 3-2, first-round upset in the state playoffs to defeat the Rome Wolves on Oct. 20. Rome was the second-place seed from Region 5AAAAA. Grady advances to the second round for the first time.

Grady finished 3rd in the Region 6-AAAAA volleyball championship, and is headed to the state playoffs with a first-round match on Oct. 20 against Rome. Senior Katie Wood was named to the All-Region First Team.

Knights drop to 1-6 record

The Knights football team dropped to 1-6  with a 42-28 loss to North Springs on Friday, Oct. 12. Grady next week faces city rival Maynard Jackson on Oct. 19 at Grady Stadium. The Jaguars defeated Lithia Springs 49-6, the only team the Knights have beaten this season with a 30-0 win in their fourth game.

The 1-5 Knights football team will face off with 1-5 Region 6AAAAA foe North Springs, Friday, Oct. 12 at North Springs. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Grady will be looking to even its region record at 2-2. In region play, the Grady defeated Lithia Springs but lost consecutive games to Decatur and Carver before taking a bye week ahead of its showdown with the Spartans.

The boys and girls cross country teams swept the Atlanta Public Schools cross country meet Oct. 2 at Grant Park. The girls swept the top three places, led by Senior Anna Tischer, who was followed by freshman Ellie Spears and junior Lindsey Schroeder. Knights face showdown with North Atlanta in city cross country championship

The boys and girls cross country teams are aiming to repeat as city champions in the APS Cross Country Championship. The teams are expected to face stiff competition from rival North Atlanta, last year's runner up in both races. The meet is at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 2 at Grant Park.

Athletic complex dedication on Oct. 5

Atlanta Public Schools will have a dedication ceremony Oct. 5 to mark the opening of Grady's new athletic fields at the Walden Athletic Complex at the site of the former Walden Middle School. Volleyball falls short at Senior Night

Seniors Katie Wood and Ellie Rice celebrated their four years playing volleyball at Grady as they took on Decatur and Riverwood Tuesday night Sept. 25 during Senior Night. The varsity girls were defeated 2-0 by both teams out of best of 3 sets. They are now 4-5 in Region 6AAAAA  and look to take on Whitewater and Our Lady of Mercy at Whitewater Sept. 27.

Knights drop Homecoming 31-13

After jumping ahead 7-0 with a first quarter touchdown by Aqainas Stillwell, the Knights dropped to 1-4 with a 31-13 loss to Decatur. The loss also dropped Grady to 1-1 in Region 6AAAAA. Grady faces Carver Sept. 28.
