The Atlanta Board of Education approved giving $1,000 to all eligible full-time staff and $500 to all eligible hourly, substitute and part-time employees.

Atlanta Public Schools Chief Financial Officer Lisa Bracken described the one-time retention payment as an “appreciation and retention stipend” just in time for the holiday season. The payments will cost the district $10.9 million.
