Boys and girls track finish second in region championship

The boys and girls track and field teams competed in the Region 6-AAAAA Championship at Lakewood Stadium on April 25 and 27. The girls team, led by a first place finish in the 4×800 meter relay and a second place finish in the 4×400 meter relay, ended the meet as the runner-up to Maynard Jackson. Freshman Danayja Harper also set a new personal record of 43.61 seconds on her way to a second place finish in the 300 meter hurdles. The boys team came in second place behind Chapel Hill in the meet, but had athletes in 14 out of 18 events qualify for sectionals. Senior Everett Schroeder won Region 6-AAAAA Runner of the Year after claiming first place in the 3200, 1600, 800 and 4×800 meter races.
