Knights girls cross country places 8th at Atlanta Classic Invite

The girls cross country team competed Saturday morning at Clinton Nature Preserve at the competitive Atlanta Classic Invitational Meet hosted by Chapel Hill High School. The girls competed in the Championship 5k race, the most competitive of the meet’s races, and scored a total of 217 points with a 21:27 average finish time, all without several top runners competing, enough for a 6th place finish out of 16 schools.

The girls were led by junior Jamie Marlowe who had a season-best and personal-best performance of 19:08, which was good for a sixth-place finish. The other major factors for the Knights were freshmen Sierra Pape, who finished in 20:53 for 36th place, and junior Emelia Weinrobe who placed 43rd in 21:50.

The girls will return to this course again for the region championships in two weeks on Saturday, October 23rd. Before then, the team will take on the competitive Coach Wood Invitational Meet next Saturday, October 16th.
