Boys lacrosse looks to avoid another loss

By Lee Johnson

Can Knights prevail amongst Spartans?

The boys lacrosse team lost its first game in over time at home 6-5 to Parkview on Feb. 21. And with two more losses on the young season, at Lovett and at Fellowship Christian, the Knights (0-3) haven’t exactly been road warriors either.  After starting its season off in the wrong direction, the team’s confidence after three games matches its win total.

However, Coach Jon Ochsner and the team hope to reverse their losing ways when they host Campbell at 6 p.m. this Friday. To realize that goal, the boys lacrosse team has been practicing more vigorously than ever.

The team has much to work on before they face the Spartans this Friday.

“It will be an uphill battle” Davis Kennedy says, “I think the team might be getting a little unmotivated from the previous losses, but we’ll try our best.”

The long physically grueling practices have been followed by a series of pep talks and team-building exercises. The practices also include drills aimed at helping each player focus his weaknesses.

Campbell (0-1) hasn’t exactly come out on fire either. The Spartans fell to Wheeler 11-0 in their season opener.

Grady feels it can take its stand with this game.

“We are going to kick [butt]!” Prahbu Roa said. “Ain’t nothing going to stop us! It’s about time we show what we can truly do!”

One thing’s for sure: something has to give.

There’s no way both team’s can leave the field Friday still winless.
