Senior Griffin Richie has been on the debate team since his freshman year. Most recently, he and his twin sister Dana claimed the co-champion title at the Alpharetta Treasure Hunt tournament. Headed to Yale University in the fall, Richie reflects on his time on the debate team.

“I’m most proud of the community I’ve built with students across the country, and that Grady has won the state championship each year I’ve been on the team,” he said.

He notes that competing in tournaments virtually this year has been difficult, but he hopes to end his high school debate career on a good note, regardless.

“There have been some technological issues,” Richie said. “Also the fact that it’s more difficult for to read and respond to judges verbal cues have definitely been a challenge this year.”
