Freshman Sam Offutt derives his artistic inspiration from the ’60s and ’70s, particularly through making embroidered patchwork jeans. “A lot of my dad’s side of the family was like, hippies, so they showed me their jeans and how they did it, and I thought, ‘This is really cool’, so I started doing it too,” Offutt said. “It’s more of my own style rather than what’s fashionable now. We need to be able to express ourselves, even if it’s like super outlandish. For me, it’s all about the culture behind it rather than just the clothing itself.”
