The Atlanta Board of Education approved a later start date to the school year starting next fall. School will start Aug. 12, 2019 for the 2019-2020 school year. Each of the past two years, school has started on Aug. 1. The new calendar will be in effect for three years. The year will start on Aug. 10 in 2020-2021 and Aug. 9 in 2021-2022.
