With a craving for Mexican food, I set out to investigate the differences between Willy’s Mexicana Grill and Moe’s Southwest Grill. Unfortunately, that topic is like politics; no matter how much you argue about it, no one will ever change their mind.
I chose between different mexican restaurants, visiting Moe’s Southwest Grill, Chipotle and Bell Street Burritos to see which served the tastiest burrito bowl. I ordered the same ingredients — chicken, black beans, rice, cheese and lettuce — at each restaurant.
My first stop was Moe’s. The line was surprisingly short, and I ordered the “Earmuffs” burrito bowl for $8. The meal was flavorful with a somewhat salty aftertaste, but disappointingly meager given the high price. After hearing rave reviews of Bell Street Burritos, I made it my next destination. The restaurant does not offer black beans, so I ordered refried beans. I dug into my burrito bowl with high expectations, but tasted nothing more than a lackluster pile of bland ingredients. My check at Bell Street was roughly equal to what I had paid at Moe’s. While the bowl was hearty, the flavor left much to be desired.
My quest ended at Chipotle. After mustering through parking difficulties and a massive line, I ordered my bowl with a side of complementary hot sauce. Yet again, my meal cost about $8. The burrito bowl was massive, with a mouth-watering smoky flavor. I chowed down, but couldn’t finish my huge plate.
Chipotle’s burrito bowl was the clear winner. While I never tried a bad meal on my quest, the Chipotle bowl’s size and unique flavor set it apart. I wouldn’t write off Moe’s and Bell Street completely, though. They might not serve the best burrito bowls, but both offer scrumptious alternatives such as quesadillas and tacos.
