The Grady Knights football team stormed the field at Lakewood Stadium motivated to reverse course after a devastating loss to Riverdale High School the previous week. They entered the contest ready to rumble but without their starting quarterback, Kivon Taylor, who was out with a concussion.
Backup quarterback Marquavious Henry threw for three touchdowns in Grady’s 21-0 win over Lithonia on Thursday, Sept. 20. There were a couple hundred people in stadium, but they made up for their small numbers with a flood of screams, hollers and “boos” all night long.
Henry started at quarterback for the first time this season and completed 4 of 7 passes for 84 yards and three touchdowns. Two of his three throwing touchdowns were to starting running back, Isiah Jenkins. Jenkins ran a well-executed screenplay for 58 yards and a touchdown after following blocks, dodging tackles and “breaking ankles.”
The Knights’ fierce defense held the Bulldogs offense to a mere 47 total yards. The Bulldogs dropped to 0-4 while the Knights improved to 3-1.
